Read about how our pre-departure training programs have empowered migrant workers, helping them adapt to new environments and succeed in their jobs abroad.
At the Migrant Labour Trainers Association (MILTA), we are dedicated to ensuring that migrant workers are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities they will face in their destination countries. Our comprehensive pre-departure training programs provide essential knowledge and skills that help migrant workers adapt to new environments and succeed in their jobs abroad.
Our programs emphasize practical training, covering important topics such as cultural orientation, workers’ rights, health and safety, and financial management. However, we have identified that some training centers lack demonstration rooms, which are crucial for effective hands-on training. To address this, our Quality Assurance team works closely with these centers to ensure that they do not provide half-baked training. We are committed to maintaining high standards and ensuring that all training centers meet the necessary requirements to deliver quality education.
We also emphasize the importance of reporting channels for migrant workers. Workers are encouraged to report any issues or concerns to the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, the Ugandan Embassy in their destination country, their foreign employers, and local recruitment companies. By providing clear and accessible reporting channels, we aim to ensure that migrant workers receive the support and assistance they need throughout their migration journey.
At MILTA, we believe that well-prepared migrant workers contribute to safer, more orderly, and more successful migration experiences. Our ongoing efforts to improve and expand our training programs are a testament to our commitment to empowering migrant workers and promoting their well-being.
